About the band
A journey between
East and West.
We bring Middle Eastern instruments, violin, oud, and regional melodies into a modern world of electronic rhythm, ambient texture, and cinematic scale.
Across fifteen releases — including the standout Slow Motion Day collaboration with Cafe De Anatolia — the band moves between ancient roots and contemporary energy, creating music for listening, movement, and emotion.
Desert Metropolis is the collaborative brainchild of Jossef Maman, a visionary producer with a passion for blending traditional Eastern sounds with modern electronic rhythms, and Uri Shefi, a multi-instrumentalist and master of Middle Eastern instruments including oud and violin.
Together, they create cinematic, immersive soundscapes rooted in ancient traditions and boldly experimental in spirit.
